Innovation

The superior performance and versatility of Mion footwear is the result of a number of innovative components working together:

Ergomorphic Footbed
An anatomically shaped surface that permanently takes the shape of the user's foot resulting in their own personalized fit. Some styles feature a removable footbed with a layer of Ergomorphic foam that customizes to the shape of the wearers foot after approximately 12 hours of use.

Sculpted Super-Structure
Each Sculpted Super-Structure rib wraps around the foot in critical areas to keep the foot in place during static and dynamic conditions and to provide coverage and cushioning. The result - a protective and personalized fit to match the user's foot characteristics and width.

Ultra-lite
Wet or dry, Miona footwear is designed to be feather light.

Structure Cord
One piece cord made of either climbing-grade rope or extremely strong Kevlar cord that spirals around the Sculpted Super-Structure, resulting in the wearer's ability to customize a precise fit based on the demands of the activity.

Wet/Dry Traction
Ultimate traction on wet and dry surfaces with a unique outsole design that features a proprietary Quad-Cut siping configuration and Gripstick rubber compound.

Amphibious Liner
Some Mion styles feature an amphibious liner material that delivers wind resistance, water resistance, and a high level of breathability.

100% Water Compatible
Mion footwear does not get wet like leather or fabric footwear. Most of our styles literally cannot absorb or retain water and some of our styles even float in water.

Environment

Mion is committed to making our shoes in the most environmentally friendly way possible. There is still a long way to go, but here are some of the ways we are reducing our impact on the environment

Renewable Energy
Because renewable energy was not available in China where we manufacture our shoes, we sought out partners, like Green-e, to help us maintain our commitment to renewable energy. With their help, we're able to effectively purchase wind power from South Dakota to offset 100% of the energy used in manufacturing our shoes. 100% of our European distribution center is fueled with on-site wind turbines and solar panels.

Solar Energy
Mion's US distribution center also receives 60% of its power from on-site solar panels. This center, located in Ontario, CA is one of the largest systems of its kind in the country, and in the top 50 for size in the world.

Mion is working toward carbon neutral and is affiliated with the following organizations

EcoMetrics Label
Mion created the industry's first standardized EcoMetics label (example below) to help us make better choices and to give consumers visibility into the impact of theirs.

Recycled Materials
We use recycled materials wherever possible, including in our packaging, which features a design that reduces the amount of glue we use and is made of post-consumer recycled materials and soy inks. We encourage all of our consumers to reuse or recycle the boxes.
