OTZ Shoes: Since 2009 in Malibu, California

About

In 2005, Ludo, creative director of a leading athletic lifestyle brand, came across an article written by Petr Hlavacek describing the oldest shoes ever found. These belonged to Oetzi, the iceman, and dated back to 3300B.C. The shoes were quite remarkable considering the time period - made of deer skin stitched to a bear skin sole with an internal woven net filled with dried grass and moss for warmth and comfort. Inspired by Oetzi's ingenuity, Ludo realized he could redesign this iconic shoe incorporating today's trend, comfort and technology. Hence the concept of OeTZI3300 shoes was born.

CORKlite is our lightweight soft comfort cork footbed. It is made from a compression molded
EVA form wrapped with a 1.8mm cork casing. The footbed is lined with a 1.8mm suede leather cover.
This provides a softer cushioned ride that gradually moulds to the shape of your feet.

The antimicrobial properties of the cork reduces bacterial build up
and allows you to wear the shoes with or without socks.

Mission

OTZ is proud to be working on the BlackSpotCow Project in developing mechanisms within our company that allow us to provide financial assistance towards the Arthritis Foundation - a leading international research and education non profit organization for Osteoarthritis, Arthritis and other related joint diseases.

3300 years BC. tattoos found on Otzis body reveal that he too had symptoms of arthritis which may have been treated with primitive forms of acupuncture. These tattoos have become the symbol of our brand, our logo.

Love these shoes!
These are as comfortable as my other OTZ shoes, and the color doesn't get any cuter. Have received many compliments on these shoes and they are so comfortable and have great support.

Love these shoes
These shoes fit beautifully and look so CUTE. They have arch support, so I walk forever and can wear them all day. They are slightly snug, but probably not a full half size short.

Very comfortable
I have back issues and have to have support. I don't know what it is about cork in an insole but it works for me. The sizing is a little tricky on these. I usually wear a size 9 but in these I buy a 40 which is a 10 and they still fit fine. I find the 39 which is a 9 runs a bit short and I do not want my toes hitting the shoe as that is what causes holes.

sole of shoe tore off again
I was hoping to buy a pair in another color besides black but I won't be buying anymore of these shoes. I returned my first pair after 2 days because the cork sole came off at the toe. I bought another pair because I liked them so much and wanted to give them another chance. Well it's been a couple of months and the sole of my right shoe came apart underneath the toe today. At least they lasted more than 2 days. I am very unhappy, especially b/c it is too late to return them.

Love! Miminalist and foot-shaped.
These are the boots I've been searching for - though I immediately ditched the super-stiff super-archy insoles. The toebox is blissfully toe-shaped. The laces let me secure the fit. I replaced the cork insole with an Ugg sheepskin insole. I got a 38 in OTZ, and ordered a 38 Ugg insole - the insole was a good half inch longer. Go figure. I've always considered 38 closer to 7 than 8 anyway. I cut the end off the insole to make it fit, and now I have sheepskin mimimalist boots. The sole without the cork is flat and flexible. Yay!
